About

Winter Driving Safety Training SafeDrive Academy’s Winter Driving Safety Training prepares CDL drivers to operate safely and professionally in snow, ice, freezing rain, and extreme cold. This video focuses on the real-world decisions that prevent crashes and breakdowns during winter operations—starting with trip planning and continuing through speed control, following distance, braking techniques, hill management, and safe responses to skids and reduced traction. Drivers will learn how to identify high-risk conditions such as black ice, blowing snow, and rapidly changing road surfaces, and how to adjust driving behavior to match visibility and traction—not schedules. The training also covers winter-specific pre-trip and enroute checks, including tires, lights, wipers, air system moisture concerns, fuel/DEF precautions, and how to spot early warning signs of traction loss or weather-related equipment issues. Special attention is given to safe stopping practices, parking considerations, chain-up planning (where applicable), and when it’s necessary to delay travel for safety. By the end of this video, drivers will have a clear winter driving mindset: slow down early, increase space, reduce sudden inputs, stay alert to changing conditions, and make conservative decisions that protect lives and careers.
